What to Expect
If you are a new client to the studio you will receive a complimentary consultation with Michele, the owner and photographer. At your consultation you will discuss your custom portrait session, how you would like your portraits displayed in your home or office as well as receive detailed product information, pricing, and style tips.
Your scheduled portrait session will be approximately one hour whether in the studio or outdoors. Those who are receiving professional makeovers will arrive at the studio approximately 45 minutes early or will arrange their makeover an hour before the session.
A large part of what makes a photography session successful is proper planning by both the photographer and the client. I will help select the location and will work with you on clothing choices to make the portraits as successful as possible.
The Golden Hour
When scheduling your session I always recommend shooting during the last hour of the day when the lighting is softer, diffused and the temperature is warm. When the sun is high in the sky the shadow are deep, the light is harsh and fill of contrast … and everyone is blinking and squinting!
A contract is emailed once a portrait is booked and needs to be mailed back with a $50 non-refundable down payment. The balance is due the day of the photo session and can be made electronically through my invoicing system with a credit card or by check. Invoicing for prints and wall art will be sent separately.
Rain & Snow Plan
Sometimes the overcast sky can provide the perfect lighting on your shoot day. If rain or snow threatens for the planned session time then we will try and reschedule you earlier in the day or later in the week if schedules allow.
After the Session
Approximately a week following your session you will be invited to the studio for your preview and ordering appointment. A link requesting iphone photos of your walls will be sent prior to the scheduled appointment. Either I or my business associate, Maureen Sullivan, will help you choose the strongest portraits and help you to decide how to best display them in your home. If you are unable to come to my studio, either I or Maureen will set up a remote meeting using computer share.
Gift certificates are available as there is no greater gift than the gift of photography!
My clients value the investment of photography and understand that the images are heirlooms for future generations. Many of my clients live elsewhere but consistently visit Aspen and feel connected to the beauty and lifestyle of our valley. Others are locals who appreciate the art of a soulful portrait or believe in documenting their family to capture the relationships between mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Many clients return each year and have become more than a client and are considered friends.
